The COVID-19 pandemic has taken millions of lives and has emphasized the steep language barrier that exists in the United States. The pandemic has shown us that having accessible healthcare information in multiple languages is now more important than ever. [Spanish-speakers especially have struggled to find information related to the pandemic](https://blog.withcanopy.com/blog-list/coronavirus-information-in-spanish-so-hard-for-hispanics-to-find) in their native language.

With information surrounding the pandemic constantly changing and being made available at a rapid pace, it is imperative that Spanish-speakers be able to find and understand the latest updates about COVID-19 and the vaccines quickly and with ease.
Today we will highlight 10 Spanish vocabulary words related to the COVID-19 vaccine that will help you learn Medical Spanish so that you can communicate with other Spanish-speakers regarding the COVID-19 vaccine.
Vaccine-Related Spanish Vocabulary:
1. la vacuna = vaccine, vaccination [Level 1 | Lesson 8]
2. contra = against [Level 1 | Lesson 8]
3. la aguja = needle [Level 2 | Lesson 5]
4. la dosis = dose [Level 2 | Lesson 10]
5. dolor del sitio de la inyección = injection site pain

7. el escalofrío = chill, shiver [Level 1 | Lesson 5]
8. la fatiga = fatigue
9. el efecto secundario = side effect
