“I am a medical student in my third year. I have had several experiences within and outside of medical school trying to assist individuals with great difficulty due to language barriers. Not only are the medical needs of the patient lost or misunderstood, but the bond between care giver and patient is lost. That basic human need for comfort, empathy, and compassion gets lost, leaving the patient feeling alone, frustrated and scared. This campaign is definitely needed to bring awareness and improve our efforts."
